BIG CHANGES IN BANKRUPTCY LAW

A major reform of the bankruptcy system took effect on October 17, 2005. The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 presents additional challenges to people facing financial difficulties.

The new law marks the biggest change to bankruptcy law since 1978. It prohibits some people from filing for bankruptcy altogether. The law also makes it harder for those who qualify to come up with manageable repayment plans, and it provides fewer protections from collectors than the prior law. Nevertheless, you still have many legal options to resolve your financial problems and re-establish your credit.

The law firm of Ammerman & Goldberg is committed to assisting clients in financial hardship. Our legal services, including debt relief agency expertise, are available to anyone over-burdened by debt.

If you need legal advice regarding debt relief and bankruptcy, call our Washington, D.C,, area bankruptcy law firm.

Consumer Bankruptcy Protection

United States bankruptcy laws are intended to give debtors a new financial beginning by relieving most of their debts under Chapter 7 bankruptcy, or giving them the opportunity — under the oversight of a bankruptcy trustee — to develop a payment plan under Chapter 13 bankruptcy.

Our bankruptcy and debt relief attorneys have over fifty years of combined experience handling Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. We have handled more consumer bankruptcies than any other Washington, D.C., bankruptcy law firm and have flexible hours and multiple office locations to meet the needs of our clients.

If you cannot pay your bills and need information on your bankruptcy and debt relief options, please fill out our Free Bankruptcy Evaluation Form or contact us by phone for a free telephone consultation with one of our skilled bankruptcy lawyers.
